College Brew: A Reflection

Throughout my past four years here in college, I have slowly mastered the art of coffee. I am by no means a pro coffee maker yet (definitely a pro coffee drinker tho), and will continue to learn and grow post-college. Now that it is coming to an end, I would like to share some advice on making coffee in a dorm and what I found to be favorable.
Freshman - Sophomore year: I mostly purchased my coffee, either off-campus or in our cafe. It was always mediocre, it wasn’t until my sophomore year that I really started to go to my local shop Leaf and Bean, so Starbucks and Tim Hortons. When I did make coffee, it was from Keurig. It was sufficient, but it wasn’t that good. I eventually got sick of this since I was drinking leaf, and myself- and my wallet- was feeling it.
Junior year: I was in a video class and I used this as an excuse to buy a french press so I could make a video on how to make coffee. This allowed me to both teach and learn how to do it. It was rough in the beginning, and I still continued to go to shops, but as time went on I perfected my craft. That is why the name of this blog is The French Press.
Senior year: I invested in a Chemex (you can check out my review of my last post) and it absolutely changed my life. If you have the time and energy, invest as a college student.
I am excited to see what a full-time job can bring to my coffee journey, but for now, my college experience comes to an end. Don’t worry, I am still going to drink coffee.
